So far it's Octo 2. But then that's the only new one I've played. For myself this year, it's going to be between that, TOTK, Pikmin 4 and Advance Wars.

This idea is... weird. The advantage of handhelds is you can play anywhere. Having to be online defeats the whole point.

I don't have any desire to stop someone else's fun, even if I don't enjoy the thing. The exception would *maybe* be crappy "free-to-play" games that abuse the players with addictions.

Yeah, I also wasn't a fan of Pikmin 2's caves. The fun in Pikmin is time management in beautiful, natural areas, and this doesn't apply in dark, same-y caves. I hope these don't show up much in Pikmin...

Have not played any Bravely Default game so can't comment there. Triangle Strategy and Octopath II are both very good in different ways. Triangle Strategy is the more "intense" experience with a ver...

I loved it - combat was fantastic and just the right difficulty, hitting the sweet spot where I had to try most battles 1-2 times perfecting my strategy to win, but it never became overly frustrating....

@panosworkersoft: Sounds a bit like Half-Life Episode 2.

I have some interest in trying out Three Houses but it always seemed a bit overwhelming with all the social stuff in addition to the combat. Engage seems more focused on the cameos from previous games...

The Switch has the best library of games of any system ever, pretty much. Octopath II is great, as is Triangle Strategy, but this might depend on your tolerance for JRPGs with huge amounts of dialogue...

The concept of an "unbiased review" is kinda an oxymoron. A review just tells whether they enjoyed the thing or not. That said, reviews can be more or less useful depending on the reviewers' tastes....

[calculus joke incoming] Metroid Prime is actually the derivative of Metroid. [/sorry]

GTA. I played 3 and 4 but I found them both... hollow somehow. It's fun for a couple hours exploring the world and causing mayhem, but the story just seemed to be one mission after the other without m...

The original Legend of Zelda (NES) manual still holds a dear place in my heart. Tunic's manual is also great. I wish the game came with a printed copy. Obviously, that would spoil the game, so maybe t...

Eh, I generally prefer games with (plentiful) save points / checkpoints etc. over save-anywhere. Save-anywhere inevitably makes me save-scum which isn't as fun, since I end up trying the same 2-second...

It's interesting that almost no one is defending GoldenEye. The game has not aged well, but I think it nailed a few things that many shooters screw up even now. For example, enemies *react* when you s...

All Quiet on the Western Front. 5 stars. Brutal, uncompromising anti-war film. The tank scene will stick out in my memory for a long time. Humans are gross.

This game is very good. It sure feels like it was ripped right out of 2006 or so, like it was started development immediately after the first. I kinda feel like the "real world" should have been more ...

Re: your last bullet point, I always thought it strange that Halo games were rated M. I haven't played much (really only Halo 3) but it seemed pretty tame.

When I think of Half-Life, I think of Half-Life. Because it's called Half-Life.
